Pivotal Week 4 of the Fantasy Football Season

Week 4 of the fantasy football season is pivotal.  Go 0-4 or even 1-3 and your chances of making the playoffs take a big hit.

What can you do to staunch the bleeding if you're doing poorly so far?  First, review your entire roster, including commonly overlooked positions like TE, K, and Defense.  See if there are players on waivers or in free agency that you could sign that would improve those spots.  Don't cling to players based on name recognition!  Especially consider dumping a disappointing defense unless its schedule strength is about to become very favorable.  You can often play Defense by committee by signing and waiving defenses weekly based on matchups.  Production from your defense can often make or break your team's fortunes and it is definitely worth wringing every possible point from that position, even if it takes a little work.

After evaluating your low-end players, take a long, honest look at your key position players at QB, RB, and WR.  Are any under performing?   If so, why?  Injury?  Schedule?  If injury, are they on the mend? If schedule, does the schedule ease soon?  If not, these players could be moved.  Of course, you're selling low, which isn't good, but you can attempt to do 2-for-1 or 3-for-2 trades that would package your under-performer with another, more productive player, for an impact player that would shore up your roster.  It might cost you depth, but if you are trying to salvage your season, it's time to roll the dice.
