Risky Fantasy Football Starters: Week 2, 2010

I don't know your league's rules, or your roster, or your opponent. So I am not going to tell you who to start and who to sit or rank players.  Instead, I'll key you in on the relative fantasy football risk levels for key players in each NFL matchup.  Then you can set your starting lineup accordingly.  Remember, if your opponent is likely going to outscore you badly, you may want to swing for the fences with a high-risk starter or two to give yourself a shot to win; if you and your opponent are evenly matched, then try to minimize the risk of your lineup.

Here's your fantasy football risk assessment for Week 2 of the 2010 season:

Buffalo @ Green Bay
High Risk: All Bills, John Kuhn
Medium Risk: Brandon Jackson, Donald Driver
Low Risk: Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Jermichael Finley
Comments: Brandon Jackson takes over for Ryan Grant; he should dominate
the workload but you never know if GB will pass even more (though Jackson's a
good pass catcher) or if Kuhn will steal all TD goalline looks.

Baltimore @ Cincinnati
High Risk: TJ Houshmanzadeh, Willis McGahee
Medium Risk: Carson Palmer
Low Risk: Joe Flacco, Cedric Benson, Ray Rice

Tampa Bay @ Carolina
High Risk: All Tampa passing game members other than Mike Williams, Matt Moore
Medium Risk: Cadillac Williams, Jonathan Stewart
Low Risk: D'Angelo Williams

Kansas City @ Cleveland
High Risk: All KC and Cleveland passing game members other than Dwayne Bowe
Medium Risk: Jerome Harrison, Peyton Hillis, Dwayne Bowe
Low Risk: Jamaal Charles
Comments: KC isn't strong against the run, but Harrison and Hillis will
eat into each other's value.

Pittsburgh @ Tennessee
High Risk: Tennessee passing game members
Medium Risk: Pittsburgh passing game members
Low Risk: Chris Johnson, Rashard Mendenhall
Comments: Even without Big Ben under center, Steeler WRs were good starts
in fantasy last week.

Chicago @ Dallas
High Risk: Felix Jones, Devin Hester
Medium Risk: Jay Cutler, Dez Bryant, Marion Barber
Low Risk: Tony Romo, Miles Austin, Matt Forte

Arizona @ Atlanta
High Risk: Beanie Wells, Derek Anderson
Medium Risk:
Low Risk: Michael Turner, Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Larry Fitzgerald
Comments: Wells is a high risk because of the uncertain status of
his knee.

Philadelphia @ Detroit
High Risk: All Detroit players outside Calvin Johnson, Jahvid Best
Medium Risk: Michael Vick,
Low Risk, LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson
Comments: Best posted good final numbers fantasy-wise last week but his
yards per carry were almost non-existant and now the Detroit offense is
in the hands of Shaun Hill.

Miami @ Minnesota
High Risk: Bernard Berrian
Medium Risk: Ronnie Brown, Ricky Jackson, Chad Henne
Low Risk: Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, Visanthe Shiancoe, Brandon Marshall
Comments: Miami's RBs face the Williams Wall of Minnesota

Seattle @ Denver
High Risk: John Carlson
Medium Risk: Matt Hasselbeck, Justin Forsett, Mike Williams, Eddie Royal
Low Risk: Kyle Orton, Jabar Gaffney, Knowshon Moreno
Comment: Was Royal's week 1 explosion a fluke?  And what effect will his
thigh injury have on him?

St. Louis @ Oakland
High Risk:
Medium Risk: Jason Campbell,
Low Risk: Darrin McFadden, Danny Amendola, Mark Clayton, Stephen Jackson

Houston @ Washington
High Risk: Clinton Portis, Jacoby Jones, Kevin Walter
Medium Risk: Donovan McNabb, Matt Schaub
Low Risk: Andre Johnson, Arian Foster
Comments: How much will Houston pass?  Can the 'skins score enough to
keep the Texans from running a lot?

New England @ NY Jets
High Risk: Jets passing game
Medium Risk: Jets running game, Pats running game, Randy Moss
Low Risk: Wes Welker, Tom Brady
Comments: Darelle Revis will be on Randy Moss.  Shonn Greene tries
to recover from stinker last week; how much will LaDanian Tomlinson
eat into Greene's carries?  Will Greene's fumblitis rear its ugly head again?

Jacksonville @ San Diego
High Risk: David Garrard
Medium Risk: Legedu Naanee, Malcom Floyd, Ryan Mathews, Mike Sims-Walker
Low Risk: Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates
Comments: Garrard is Jeckl and Hyde: good at home, bad on the road.

NY Giants @ Indianapolis
High Risk:
Medium Risk: Colts WRs other than Reggie Wayne, Giants WRs, Joseph Addai
Low Risk: The Manning brothers, Reggie Wayne
Comments: Both QBs have many targets and spread the ball, which makes any given WR outside of Reggie Wayne somewhat risky.  NY Giants WR Hakeem Nicks couldn't finish Thurdays' practice because of his ankle.

New Orleans @ San Francisco
High Risk: Alex Smith
Medium Risk: Michael Crabtree, Saints WRs, Vernon Davis
Low Risk: Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas, Frank Gore
Comments: Dissension in the 49er clubhouse between players and coaches.
Crabtree apparently has attitude and effort problems.
