TE Tony Scheffler's Improving 2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

The Detroit Lions have obtained tight end Tony Scheffler from the Denver Broncos.  The trade has been expected since late last season, as Scheffler had fallen into Denver coach Josh McDaniels' doghouse.  According to mlive.com, the Lions plan to give Scheffler a large role in their offense, using him in a way similar to how the Indianapolis Colts use Dallas Clark.  Though incumbent tight end Brandon Pettigrew's recovery from ACL surgery is progressing well, according to NFL.com, Pettigrew still should not be expected to start out the season.  This means Scheffler's 2010 fantasy value definitely improves, though he's not an automatic TE1 until we see just how active he is in the offense during camp and preseason.
